Just a quick thank you to everyone who made me, the rookie from Scotland feel so welcome at the Brands Hatch meeting. Having survived the stresses of getting through all the paperwork and scrutineering for my first time all I need to do now is work out how to make the car (and me) go somewhat quicker before our next outing at Silverstone.
It was sad to see all those cars - much prettier than my scraggy old thing - come back to the pits damaged.
I'm looking forward to another 1000 mile round trip for the Silverstne meeting!
Thanks again.
Peter - A class car 7 (the one you all passed)

Peter, welcome to the BCV8 Championship, a shame it was such a bad day but in spite of that I hope you were made to feel welcome and were conviced the trip was worth it. Unfortunately we no longer get to Knockhill, we all thought the 750 mile round trip (in my case) was too far!!!!!
Hope to have more time to make you feel welcome at Silverstone.

Peter, hope you were no too daunted by the events at Brands  - all I can say is that I started at Brands and felt the same - getting lapped more than once was a bit of a surprise - but it only took a short time to get me, and the car with a few mods into the full flow of things - Don't worry it will come quicker than you think and Silverstone is completely different and a lot more enjoyable as a circuit (less intense so you can focus on your racing). Any tips or help, just ask as I have always found everyone really helpful... see you soon?

I'm definitely lacking in straight line speed and acceleration. Not sure whether I should be looking at some tuning work, or trying to shed some weight - or both. Any thoughts?

Pete,
I'd initially go for some weight reduction - as a fellow GT'r we Carry around a little excess (especially up top) compared to the roadsters so as much you can get off will pay benefits, especially in handling - you are also running a std exhaust? so a better one will help the engine breathe better..

Hi Pete.

I didn’t get chance to meet you at brands, I’ll come to find you at Silverstone for a chat. Like Howard said you need to get the weight down in GT’s and because you can’t do much to the engines you just have to make sure they have been put together well to optimise every last bit of power. But I think the key with class A is to get the car handling well, because the only way to get them down the straights quick is to carry the speed through the corners out onto the straight, and that comes with confidence in what’s underneath you. Tyres are critical and the Yoko A048 should give you the grip you need, you should be able to carry almost as much speed through corners as the class B boys. A well set up car should give you the confidence to grit your teeth and turn in on the back bumper of a class B car. Best of look with the car shame you’re not out at Oulton it’s a fantastic circuit and just about as far north as the BCV8 boy with travel.

Cheers

Rob.
