I have just received this for general distribution to interested parties .......

This is just a general query, the British horse society has had some problems lately with people transporting horses and not being aware of rules and regulations they need to follow. As the same principles apply to people who do motor racing, can we help each other out?

As you may or may not be aware, Any vehicle over 7.5 tons or vehicle and trailer combination over 7.5 ton falls under drivers’ hour’s regulations. RHA Training can offer a comprehensive seminar that will ensure delegates acquire a full understanding of EU and domestic drivers hours, working time and competent Tachograph record keeping, covering both analogue and digital use. The Maximum penalty for a driver’s hour’s offence is £2,500. And like us I am sure you don’t wish for people to receive this penalty.

We have recently launched a course with the support from the British horse society and Horse and Hounds Magazine. The course is called Horse Transport Training and is designed for the people who need to move horses around as part of there hobby or in a semi/professional capacity in much the same way as people in motor sport need to move there cars and equipment around.

Some drivers of vehicles over 3.5 ton will also fall under the new Driver CPC regulations that came into effect in September 2009. These rules state, that all drivers of LGV vehicles, holding a category C, C1, C+E or C1+E License on 10 September 2009, will need to complete the 35 hours of periodic training before 10 September 2014 unless Exempt. This also includes drivers who hold C1 entitlement by virtue of passing a car test pre-1997 and drivers who hold HGV class 1, 2 or 3, gained prior to 1991. After this, they will need to undertake a further 35 hours of training in every subsequent five-year period in order to retain their Driver CPC.

As I’m sure The Association Of British Motor Racing Clubs are keen to have race drivers abiding by the law and not having there racing being affected by the laws that effect them getting to and from events. We would like to offer you the opportunity to endorse a tailor made course that will provide People with the training needed to make sure there logistical side of racing is running smoothly and legally.
